Between 2 Buns - Sunbury

I was in Sunbury and having just finished watching Justice League with Chloe and her sister, Madi, we found ourselves experiencing various states of hunger. As I was the hungriest, I was very keen to make good on our plans of catching a movie and grabbing some burgers afterwards so we went down to 107 Oshanassy Street to fill the holes in our stomachs.

It was cold and raining, and while the wrath of Mother Nature wasn't upon us like the Bureau of Meteorology said it would be, the weather was unpleasant enough to drive us inside. While discussing the greatness of Aquaman, I ordered The Classic with a side of regular beer-battered fries and barbecue dipping sauce. Chloe ordered the Dirty Fries and Madi ordered a serve of large fries and B2B dipping sauce.

The Classic contains beef, cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion, mustard and B2B sauce. The sauce and mustard drip from the burger and combine to add a tangy taste to the freshness of the lettuce and tomato. The onion adds a pinch of extra flavour and the beef is strong without being spectacular. It tastes exactly as you would imagine a burger to taste like. Classic.

The Dirty Fries was an interesting choice by Chloe and one that we all really enjoyed. Chilli beef, cheese sauce, bacon, spring onion and B2B sauce smother the large fries to make what looks like a very tasty snack. True to appearance, the Dirty Fries are very tasty, with Chloe singling out the chilli as particularly good. It was meaty and delicious, even if the chips near the bottom were a little soggy, although that could be a side effect of Between 2 Buns being generous with their toppings!

The B2B as a dipping sauce tastes like chipotle mayo, which is always good. I preferred it as a dipping sauce to the barbecue, which is a little too sweet here for my liking.

Pricing
I spent $14.50 here, with The Classic coming in at $9.50 and a serve of regular fries weighing in at $4. Dipping sauce is a dollar extra. Dirty Fries are $11.

Ambience
Well-lit and clean, this is a basic burger joint that doesn't try too hard to be cool or edgy.

Dietary Requirements
In good news for vegetarians, Between 2 Buns has released a new burger called the Veg Out. It comes with a mushroom as the patty.

Address
107 O'Shanassy Street, Sunbury. There are also stores in Altona, Williamstown and Hoppers Crossing.

The Last Bite
Captures the taste of burgers and fries beautifully and is unpretentious in its approach. I recommend it.
