Huxtaburger - Eastland, Ringwood
2018 is here and Chloe and I wasted no time getting down to the business of burgies. I've neglected the eastern suburbs so far on this blog so to make amends, we went to Eastland to visit the famous Huxtaburger.

My first burgy of the year was the Theo. It packs double beef, double cheese, bacon, barbecue sauce, mustard, mayo, lettuce, tomato and pickles. It's a quality burgy that's also quite filling, as you'd hope. The barbecue sauce isn't very prominent though, losing out to the mustard in the battle for the tastebuds. This prevents the burgy from being too sweet, as can sometimes happen with burgies that come with barbecue sauce.
Chloe had the Cheesus, which also packs double beef and double cheese. Cheesy mayo, mustard, tomato sauce and pickles round it out. She described the mustard as cutting through the richness of the cheese, allowing the burgy to be cheesy without being overwhelmingly cheesy.
We both ordered onion rings to complement our burgies. The rings here at Eastland are super thick and super crunchy and can be a bit of a mouthful. The serving is a bit small, too. To be perfectly honest, we think a side of chips would have been the better choice.
P.S.The Huxtaburger is their best burgy.
Pricing
I paid $22.50 for the Theo and onion rings (plus a bottle of water). The Theo is a bit expensive at $15, but for those who are price-conscious, the Plain Jane costs just $7.90. Chloe paid $18 all up, with the Cheesus being $13.50. Onion rings are $6.50. We flashed our student cards for 10% off our meals (go on a Tuesday or Wednesday for a huxtaburger and chips for $11).
Ambience
Big and welcoming, Huxtaburger Eastland is much bigger than the Collingwood and CBD stores. On the downside, it doesn't have that inner city hipster vibe (hang on, is that actually a downside?).
Dietary Requirements
Vegetarians and vegans are looked after here.
Address
171-175 Maroondah Highway, Ringwood (in the "Town Square" opposite the train station). Other locations include Collingwood, the CBD, Hawthorn, Footscray and Prahran.
The Last Bite
Worth a try, but be aware that it differs a little from the Collingwood and CBD stores (the burgies don't come in wrappers and little boxes, among other things).
