Nuts-About-Tella - La Trobe University, Bundoora
I've been kicking it at La Trobe every Tuesday this semester with Chloe. We've been studying, talking to the local Marxists, going for walks and most importantly, eating burgies. We've been smashing them down on campus, buying them from Nuts-About-Tella, a little dessert and burgy joint that I believe only opened in the Agora within the last year. I didn't think the Agora could get any better food-wise, but it has. If only Deakin had a food court with more than two restaurants. Not that Deakin doesn't have other things going for it.
Anyway, this a blog about burgies, not universities. Chloe, Zammo and I all ordered the Graduation Combo, which includes a Graduation burgy, small chips and a can of drink for just $10. This isn't a bad deal, especially when you compare it to the price of burgies elsewhere. The Graduation packs a beef patty, American cheddar, tomato & mustard sauce, and special burger sauce. This burgy goes all right, even if it looks like the cook sat on it before wrapping it. Usually these joints make their burgies tower on the table like NBA players on a basketball court, but not here. Instead of LeBron James you get Lionel Messi, which isn't a bad thing.
The sauce is punchy and the bun is soft. The meat is tender. It is easy to hold and the mess is minimal. It's like a McDonald's cheeseburger but bigger and better, and more homemade.
The chips are a little over-seasoned but are fairly decent overall. They're not fancy at all, just plain old-fashioned takeaway chips. I like them.
Chloe and Zammo liked their combos as well. We all agreed it's surprisingly filling, and good value at $10.
I also had the Gold Digger. This burgy contains southern fried buttermilk chicken breast, American slaw, American cheddar and southern mayo. The chicken is unbelievably tender and moist, falling apart and melting in your mouth. The slaw is somewhat mushy, while the sauce is flaming hot. It's a good burgy and probably gets the nod over KFC's Zinger Burger, which I personally rate highly.

Head-to-Head
The Graduation beats the Gold Digger in this contest. Chloe reckons she prefers the taste of the Gold Digger, but she awarded the points to the Graduation for the $10 combo. A Gold Digger with small chips and a drink is $15, so the verdict today is unanimous.
Pricing
No burgy here costs over $12, with the cheapest one coming in at $6. The Graduation Combo presents great value at $10.
Ambience
There's a lot of hip-hop blasting in this joint. You'll find yourself munching on some chips to some fire tunes by Migos and other rappers I've never heard of.
Dietary Requirements
There is a vegetarian burgy here, and I don't think you'd have to ask for too much to have this changed to a vegan burgy.
Address
Shop 15, Agora West Building, La Trobe University. There's also a restaurant on Lygon Street in Brunswick East.
The Last Bite
I like Nuts-About-Tella, and so do Chloe and Zammo. Next time you find yourself down Lygon Street, or in the Agora, give it a go.
