Flippin Burgers - Bundoora

After an impromptu outing at Bundoora Park, Chloe and I got hungry and went searching for food. We found a burger joint just across the road in the new Polaris development, which has unfortunately taken over the old Larundel Mental Asylum and turned the derelict buildings into allegedly stylish apartments and shops (although the main building is still a crumbling mass of graffiti). With my ghost-hunting days behind me (the police apprehended me and a mate here a few years ago), I settled in for a burger with Chloe, thoughts of apparitions and asbestos far from my mind.

Usually I'd comprehensively list the ingredients here, copying it straight from a menu I found on the internet. Flippin Burgers offers no such luxury so I'm going to go off the photo I took of the burgers and my faulty memory to describe what we ate. I'll start with the Chick Me Out, which is a very tasty burger that comprises of fried buttermilk chicken, slaw, cheese, pickles and mayo. Chloe ordered this one and it's a clear winner. The chicken is juicy and tender, and the ingredients are balanced in such a way that nothing demands your attention.

In contrast, the Bacon Me Crazy (exceptional name) is dominated by barbecue sauce. It's very sweet and really sits on your tongue, zapping it over and over. The burger is pretty good overall, but the barbecue sauce was a bit overpowering. Aside from the sauce, there's also a beef patty, bacon (very crispy) cheese, red onion and mayo. While I preferred the Chick Me Out, Chloe liked both burgers equally, which is quite rare (she always thinks she picks the better burger).

We ordered fries with cheese sauce because we were feeling a little spontaneous and it was a good decision. The only complaint I have is that we could've been given more sauce!

A Cookies and Cream Shake washed it all down. It tastes like an Oreo McFlurry from McDonald's (Chloe's words), or, in my opinion, a Storm Oreo from Hungry Jack's. Either way, we both agreed that it's good.
